Because of our undying patriotism, we decided to come home to America for the 4th of July. First we had to drive through hours more of Gravel roads and Canadian farmland, and smuggle? FuzzyNutz back in. We encountered two American Border Guards on the way back in. The bad cop could not understand how Canada would get us from Philadelphia to California. It was like he had never heard of a road trip before. Once again, for as many concerns as he had he never asked about the hamster cage. Welcome home FuzzyNutz.
We drove through Detroit, the rumors are true, and on to University of Michigan. It was a brief stop in Ann Arbor; coffee, sandwiches, pictures, pizza, and gone. Next stop was Benton Harbor on Lake Michigan, might as well have been Detroit. Fortunately the neighboring town, St. Joseph, was a nice little beach town and provided a perfect backdrop for toasting the Founding Fathers for ensuring my right to drop the F-bomb without a financial consequence.
The fire works didn't start until 11pm, with us being about 20 miles from the time zone change and a bit higher North, it didn't get dark until quarter of.
